Alsus in the Forum “Challenges of Internationalization of the Services Sector in Colombia"

26.11.2014 - The Forum “Challenges of Internationalization of the Service Sector in Colombia” was held on 25th of November, 2014 in Manizales; which is, together with Cartagena, one of the only two cities, where the event took place.

As a part of the forum, there was held the discussion panel “Participation of the Colombian Services Sector in Global Value Chains”, moderated by Eduardo Andrés Sánchez, Regional Director ProColombia, which counted with the participation of: Yeison Augusto Manrique López, Quality Manager in Alsus IT Group; Victor Muñoz, Carvajal Tecnología y Servicios; Leonardo Ronderos from FEDELOG; and Irene Mejía, Director of ANDI (Caldas).

The contribution of Yeison Augusto Manrique López to the Panel allowed to highlight the participation of the IT sector in value chains, raise awareness about current gaps of the sector on its way towards efficient internationalization processes, propose some alternatives to generate the necessity to explore business opportunities in global value chains and provide options for public policies to properly support the State.

The Forum carried out by Confecámaras, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, and Manizales Chamber of Commerce counted with national and international guests, as for example Adriana Rivera from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism; Juan Manuel Gómez, Legal Vice President of ASOBANCARIA; Javier Medina from the Instituto de Prospectiva, Innovación y Gestión del Conocimiento; Ricardo Duarte from DG & A; Juan Manuel Escalante from the Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) and Jaime Olavariga, Director of Buzzclusters in Chile, who presented legal instruments that can be used by companies from the service sector to fund their exportation projects; furthermore, strategies that are being implemented by Colombian Government to strengthen the participation of companies in international business were also discussed, as well as benefits of integration of services in global value chains.
